Annoucement: End of Life / Support for the Generation 1 / Forms System for Customers in the UK and Europe

We are transitioning all of our users in the UK and Europe to the next generation of the EMDECS system, called Kona or Generation 2. We are ending support for our Generation 1 / Forms system (formerly called the Connect system) at the end of this year.

  1. What will happen to my existing repair order history, units, parts, etc.?

    All of your existing data, including repair history, inventory stock levels, parts transactions, units, financial data, PM history, etc., is available in the new Kona system. Our new system features a new, fully web based interface, but our existing database structure and all your data will be unaffected by this transition.

  2. How will training be provided?

    Our customer experience team will work with you on an individual basis to schedule free online training sessions. Training is typically delivered via web meeting using GotoMeeting.

    If you would like in person, on site training, a quote can be provided by request.

  3. What are some of the benefits of the new Kona system?

    Listed below are some of the new features that are available in Kona:

    - 100% browser based application. No more need to install Java and being restricted to using a Windows operating system. Our new Kona system can be used from any operating system with a modern web browser (i.e. Google Chrome, Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge). Kona can also be used from an Android or Apple iOS tablet!
    - Improve customer communication: Proactively email status updates on repair orders to customers and internal parties
    - Scheduled Reports. In the Kona system, reports can be scheduled and sent by email to a user-defined list of contacts. Use this to send reports internally or directly to your customers!
    - Service Board for scheduling and managing your workload. The new Service Board can be used by service managers and technicians to manage units in the yard and work required.
    - Attach pictures and documents to work orders, parts and activities.
    - Technician efficiency tracking and reporting through real time tracking using our Technician Portal (TechRO).
    - Electronic PM Inspection Forms to report, track, and repair unit defects.
    - Service campaigns / recall management
    - A new, enhanced Warranty Manager module
    - Manager Dashboards
    - Perform your own data uploads for Parts, Units, Customers, Vendors, Unit Readings and more...
    - Support for our EMDECS mobile app (available for Android and iOS)
    - Additional modules available, such as a Customer Access Portal, Driver Defect Manager, Tire Manager, and more!

  4. How will pricing be affected?

    Your current pricing for existing users and technicians will remain unchanged. Your pricing will not increase when you are transitioned to Kona.

    Additional licenses for additional users (administrators, service managers, and technicians) will be billed at our standard rate, listed in the chart below

    *Additional expenses (travel, hotel, food, etc.) are applicable for on site training. A custom quote can be provided, by request.

  5. I would like to continue to use the Forms / Generation 1 system after December 31, 2022. What is the process for that?

    The Forms system will no longer be supported after December 31, 2022. While we have not yet determined a definitive date for when access to the Forms system will be disabled, Forms is considered end of life and end of support as of December 31, 2022. Access to Forms may be disabled at any time after December 31, without further notice. We will no longer provide training or technical support for the Forms system after December 31.

    Forms / Generation 1 is built on an outdated Oracle Forms platform that is no longer supported by Oracle and it may not continue to work with future updates to Windows or future versions of Windows. Continued use of Forms is at your own risk! We strongly advise all customers to transition to Kona as soon as possible and to discontinue using Forms after December 31, 2022.
