Management of Tire Inventory
Standard Codes
Tires need to be setup under Standard Codes before they can be received or added as a part. The reason for this is the tire will be dependent on it's brand/type, the condition and also it's size.
You can find this tab here: Administration > Standard Codes > Parts > Tire Setup
Types of Code
- Tire Brand
- Michelin, Hankook, Goodyear etc.
- Tire Type
- Steer Tires (AH31), Trailer Tires (TH31), Drive Axle Tires (DH31) etc.
- Tire Conditions
- New, Used, Recapped New, Recapped Used
- Tire Size
- R24, R22, R15 etc.
Tire Setup Tab
This tab will hold all tires, sort of like a more specific parts master. You'll see the codes you setup before hand here, as long as you've received tires at this stage.
Clicking "Add Tire Setup" will open up the tire setup window, from here you'll see many of the code categories we had setup before,
The line "Tire Part Number" is what the specific part will be called, typically a combination of other codes. As seen above Michelen 24R Tire becomes MICH24R. This will be decided when creating the part, which needs to be done before adding the part number. You'll do this the same way you create most parts, the only difference being this second part of the setup.
Next you'll either add serial numbers to each tire or you'll need to receive tires first.
You aren't able to add serial numbers if your On Hand Qty is 0 or lower.
Tire Receiving
Ordering tires is the same as ordering other types of parts, so we'll focus on the receiving side. When receiving tires there are a few extra steps, These include
- Serial Number
- Unique set of characters used to identify each individual tire, important for selling/trading of tires (An example being TI######/TI000001)
- Tire Condition
- The condition of the tire at point of receiving. This is also essential for selling/trading/repairing tires
You can then click "Receive Parts" and your onhand will then be updated to reflect these new tires
Mounting & Dismounting Tires
Using tires on work orders is a little different than other parts. Here are the steps for Mounting & Dismounting tires,
- After creating a work order you'll need to add labor then click "Add Parts"
- If you're mounting tires make sure you've either received other tires or dismounted tires.
- Select the proper tire from the parts search, then things will look a little different.
- From here you need to choose which tires you're mounting onto this unit,
- Choose the tires you want to mount and click "Mount tires"
Unlike most other parts tires will show up individually, giving the ability to change the cost depending on quality and tire depth.
Now for dismounting, this is a little more involved as you need to add serial numbers, quality and tire depth.
- Search the part and you'll end up on this screen,
-
-
Now click "Dismount Tires", These will appear on the Tire Manager page just like when receiving tires.
